Sewage (Inland Waters) Bill 2019-20

The Sewage (Inland Waters) Bill 2019-20 was introduced by Phillip Dunne MP following the Private Members' Bills Ballot on 9 January 2020. First reading took place on 5 February 2020 and the Bill's second reading is due on 10 July 2020.

Bill summary

A Bill to place a duty on water companies to ensure that untreated sewage is not discharged into rivers and other inland waters; and for connected purposes.

The Library will produce a briefing or material for the second reading debate and this page will be updated when it is made available.  

The second reading paper may be updated as the Bill goes through Parliament; alternatively additional papers will be added to this page to reflect the Bill’s progress.
