Cornwall's dark sky status

Bodmin Moor in Cornwall was designated an International Dark Sky Landscape by the International Dark Sky Association in October 2017. It joins a total of 9 locations in the UK that have dark sky accredited status by the Association.

The Dark Sky Places programme was started by the International Dark Sky Association in 2001 to encourage communities to preserve dark sky sites though responsible lighting policies and public education.

This debate pack provides information about the benefits of a dark sky and the requirements to achieve dark sky status. The pack also includes information about the UK Dark Sky Discovery partnership and about planning for low light pollution.
