On 30 January 2018, there will be a Westminster Hall debate on 'Marriage and Government policy'. The debate is sponsored by Derek Thomas MP. The debate will start at 9:30 and last 90 minutes.

This debate pack provides a variety of marriage-related statistics, including the sex and age of those getting married, and marriage duration. This paper also outlines Government policies in tax and education that aim to promote marriage, as well as policies to support continuing family stability, both during and after a marriage. This is followed by reaction to these policies and an annotated bibliography of academic material exploring the role of marriage in relationships and child development.
