Human Rights Day is observed annually on 10 December, the date that the UN General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948. This year will mark the 70th anniversary of the Declaration’s adoption. This briefing provides an overview of the UN’s year‑long campaign to mark the anniversary of the Declaration; the UN’s human rights priorities and programme of work for the period 2018 to 2021; and the UK Government’s strategic aims with regards to promoting human rights internationally.
