This paper contains labour market figures for parliamentary constituencies, as well as a summary of the latest national and regional statistics.

• The number of people claiming Jobseekers Allowance increased by 1,200 between November and December 2011 to 1.60 million people aged 18 or over.

• The wider ILO measure of unemployment was 2.68 million in the period September-November 2011, a rise of 118,000 from the last quarter. The number of unemployed people is the highest since 1994.

• In September-November 2011, 1.04 million people aged 16-24 were unemployed, an increase of 52,000 on the previous quarter, and the highest since the ONS’s current series began in 1992.

• Over the three months to November 2011, the number of employees (which excludes self-employed people) fell by 109,000, whilst the number of self-employed people rose by 101,000.
