Inflation: International: Key Economic Indicators

UK inflation, as measured by the CPI, was 1.8% in the year to January, down from 2.1% in December. This is the lowest level for two years.

EU inflation was 1.7% in December 2018, down from 2.0% in November. EU inflation was 1.7% in December 2017.

Annual inflation in the Eurozone is provisionally estimated as 1.4% in January, down from 1.6% in December and compared with 1.4% in December 2017.

In Germany inflation was 1.7% in December, down from 2.2% in November; in France it was 1.9% in December, down from 2.2% in November.

Estonia had the highest inflation rate in the EU in December (3.3%). The lowest inflation rate in the EU was in Greece and Portugal (0.6%). UK inflation was the eighth highest in the EU in December.
